Malaysia is heading towards an ageing nation and is expected to have 5.8 million or equivalent to 15.3 per cent of senior citizens aged 60 years and above in 2030. This diagnostic study is in tandem with the government’s inten- tion to provide formal and informal services and facilities in order to achieve the population’s overall well-being. The main purpose of this study is to design a long-term elderly care model (LTC) by 2030. This study of LTC elderly diagnosed the supply of the existing service gap, identifies the demand for formal and informal services specifically in elderly care in terms of human capital as well as the financing system. This study also provided the LTC model action plan proposal and identified the proposed pilot study locality to implement the LTC model proposal in Malaysia.
